TRIBUTE TO CANDY CLOSE
The North Central Ohio Alcoholics Anonymous Intergroup (NCOAAI) would like to share with you our fondest regard and grief over the passing of our beloved friend, Candy Close.
For those of you who never had the opportunity to know Candy, she was our Intergroup Office Manager, Friend and Mentor. Candy was an active member of AA and through her 13 years of sobriety, touched countless lives.
God called Candy on June 3rd, 2019. She spent her final hours comforted by her dearest friends and family.
Over the past year, we have witnessed Candy’s battle with cancer. She was a mighty little warrior. She continued her work at the Intergroup Office, she remained an active member in her homegroup, attended many other meetings and AA events, as well as continuing with her volunteer commitments.
We watched our friend forge ahead, giving AA all she had in her. All the while, she was receiving Chemotherapy, which drained her body of everything – but her Love, Faith, Loyalty and Determination.
Candy walked her path with dignity and diligence. She had the heart of a lion and the kind and gentle spirit of a lamb.
We will miss Candy Close. We will carry on her legacy here at the NCOAAI; remembering her passion for Alcoholics Anonymous, sobriety, service and life. Candy’s smile will remain in our hearts and her laughter will continue to echo in our minds.
With sincere love and gratitude to our dear friend – we bid you farewell, Candy Close.
